Where candidates get stuck

What comes up most often in the candidate accounts we have read.

  • One listening only. There is no going back: miss a word at the start and the question is gone.
  • Spoken French. Swallowed words and natural speed catch people out when they have trained on slowly read texts.
  • Poor-quality practice audio. Many online resources rely on questions rebuilt from memory, re-recorded with background noise and no transcript.
  • The last questions. The hardest ones come at the end, when fatigue sets in.

How to practise

  • Start with the official TCF samples, then the resources FEI recommends: TV5Monde and RFI.
  • Practise with a single listening and no pauses, then listen again with the transcript to see what you missed.
  • Our original listening sets: clean audio, a one-listen exam mode, then a practice mode with replay, adjustable speed, transcript and explanations. Practise · Full mock exam
